Dual view rendering for 3D stereo displays (NOT VR)
OpenMW already supports dual view modes, where the screen is separated in two panes with pictures for both eyes. This enables 3D stereo display of the game contents and can greatly enhance the immersiveness and player's experience. However, the game scenes are still rendered flat on a slightly withdrawn surface and only the menus float in 3D space. The problem is that both viewports are still identical.
Please, add the ability to render all game contents twice with an adjustable inter-eye distance for 3D TVs and displays. The game should be controlled as usual with a keyboard/mouse or gamepad.
- This is an option for 3D stereo displays and TVs. It DOES NOT (!!!) require support for any VR gear, VR libs, tactile feedback or geometric warping to suit VR optics. It should not involve linking with any VR libs and their licensing problems. The resolution of each image is 50% of the screen resolution, so the rendering overhead could be less than 2x.
