Mistify mod causes CTD in 0.46 on Mac

I run OpenMW on a Mac (Mac mini late 2014) and installed the Mistify mod by Melchior Darhk as the recent video detailing new features in 0.46 claimed that the mod now works in OpenMW. When I enter any exterior cell in the zone in which the mod functions, I get a CTD. Interior cells without mist effects in the region work fine, but the moment I exit back out into an exterior cell I end up with a CTD (this includes starting a new character and leaving the prison ship, as well as any fast travel into the region).

I have seen that at least one other person has experienced the same issue. See the thread started by DarkSpectre066 in the comments section of the mod's nexus page: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/48112?tab=posts. From what I can gather from the thread, this appears to be a Mac specific issue.
