Alpha-To-Coverage Anti-Aliasing for alpha testing

I have the Morrowind Optimization Patch installed and I noticed leafs of most vegetation lack any sort of anti-aliasing with multisampling turned on. According to the description Morrowind Optimization Mod disables Alpha Blending in favor of Alpha Testing. It would be nice to have alpha-to-coverage anti-aliasing on these textures.

Here is an example screenshot standing in front of the Seyda Neen silt strider port with 8xMSAA: a2c_mw

Notice how the blade and the other models are smooth while the leafs are not.

I found an article describing some of the pitfalls of alpha-to-coverage anti-aliasing, maybe it is helpful as a starting point: https://medium.com/@bgolus/anti-aliased-alpha-test-the-esoteric-alpha-to-coverage-8b177335ae4f

For reference I'm using
Debian 9
OpenMW 0.44 Release Flatpak
Intel HD Graphics 520
