Weapon force-equipment messes up ongoing attack animations
When you try to equip a weapon on an actor that is currently doing an attack with Equip command, which bypasses equipment restrictions since recently, the attack animation either continues as normal with a different weapon (if the weapon type is the same) or has interesting issues otherwise. Interestingly Morrowind seems to have similar issues, seeing as the beta of Morrowind Code Patch 2.5 adds a workaround for them by making the Equip command that changes the equipped weapon a no-op for attacking actors. But I assume that is a no-go for us.
An example: the attack animation can't finish properly if you change an equipped one-handed sword to a spear by force-equipping it and you're stuck in the final frame of the attack animation, not being able to change the weapon (unless you try to change it via equip, didn't try it) and camera view. I haven't researched other possible issues.
I'm looking into this but I can't guarantee I'll figure out what exactly breaks. One theory is that the weapon animation can't be disabled because the "current" weapon disabling was set up for is not actually current anymore, or vice versa.
