What is the difference in general ASM and MEC in specific?

Positions of juctions and joining technology.

If we talk about elektrical components we even have CIR as option for Assembly.

So it might now be sometimes hard to differentiate lets say for plugs and housing and fixing a cooling plate with thermal paste to the electronics PCB or similar to separate the different types.
