ntpd terminates unexpectedly on 32-bit ARM
Dear Support Team,
Today I tried to use ntpsec on one of my productive systems. I used the latest commit ntpsec-0.9.7+1041 2017-07-12T15:13:44-0500
Some minutes after starting ntpd terminated.
I looked at syslog in debug and daemon log files but there are no entries of ntpd - so no indications what it was. During the short run of ntpd I have seen entries like this:
Sep 4 12:01:39 entp1 ntpd[28223]: IO: routing socket reports: No buffer space available
But after writing this entry ntpd was still running some time.
I rebooted the hardware but the same issue and a plenty of free memory available.
And again after some minutes of run ntpd dies.
This is not the first ntp server with ntpsec. Since weeks even month I am testing ntpsec on another server with same hardware and same OS: 3.4.104 armv7l GNU/Linux
The only difference is, the one I tried today is part of the Austrian (AT) ntp-pool. Of course there are much more requests then the other which is used only internally. For the server in the AT-pool I have about 550 till 600 requests per second. I am not sure if it's an issue of the load. On other hand the server is idling more than 90% and 80% of memory is free. It's a dedicated NTP server, doing nothing else.
As I couldn't fix the issue I stepped back to ntp classic.
Is there a way to make ntpd more chatty to syslog before it dies ?
Kind regards
Hans
