Boss summons can be used as nukes
Summoning Rahovart or Asmodeus can be used near an area to act as a giant nuke, wiping out the surrounding area instantly.
This can cause major issues on multiplayer servers, as it can be used to easily obliterate someone else's base in a heartbeat.
Unfortunately, I don't have a perfect alternative in mind, but here's some brainstorming anyway:

Check the area for TEs; would require iterating through the TileEntity instances, at least within affected chunks. Cancel the event if a TE is found. Not perfect, since it would still be possible to destroy non-TE areas that are still important to someone else, and it would also be impossible to summon in areas with TEs that nobody cares about.

Use a special dimension for the boss fight. This would be nice, imo, but I believe it would involve a lot of work to set up the new dimension, the teleporting of players back and forth under different circumstances, the situation where 2 players summon the same boss (would either need to have multiple instances of the arena, or just go ahead and send both players into the same fight)...
