Fingerprint sensor ghost touch detection

Expected Behavior

Fingerprint sensor should not trigger an onFingerDown event when locking the device. Also the case before updating to LineageOS 23.0.

Current Behavior

When locking the device, the fingerprint sensor lights up as though a finger was pressed and the logs seem to say so as well.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Update to LineageOS 23.0.
  2. Unlock the device by holding finger down on fingerprint sensor.
  3. Lock the device.
  4. After about half a second, fingerprint sensor lights up.

Important note: To reproduce, it is needed to hold down your finger when unlocking. Unlocking the phone with a quick tap on the fingerprint sensor seems to not cause the issue, almost as though the sensor keeps trying to read the finger press from previous unlock when locking, therefore holding down causes it.
Furthermore, when Always On Display is turned on, the issue can't be replicated.
