Screen tearing on Pixel 5 - redfin

Expected Behavior

When unlocking the smartphone, either using the power button or the fingerprint reader, the homescreen should be instantly displayed and available.

During a call, while having the phone on-ear, removing the phone from ear should make the phone screen appearing instantly.

Current Behavior

Screen tearing is appearing for a few seconds, then the screen appear in good shapes.

Issue appeared when updating from lineage 20 to 21, at least a year ago. Since then, many other users reported the issue on Reddit:

Seems to be related to proximity sensor, as disabling the auto-brightness fix the issue.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Lock the Pixel 5
2. Put the phone in a place with high luminosity (e.g: direct sun, or in front of a light)
3. Unlock the screen using either the power button or the fingerprint

OR:

1. Be outside or in a very light place
2. Start a call
3. Put the phone on-ear
4. remove phone from ear
5. Screen tearing, then need to wait a few seconds before being able to use the phone
