Unable to set PIN or password or pattern for Screen lock

Expected Behavior

Setting a PIN or password or pattern in the setup process or afterward in settings for screen lock should work

Current Behavior

In the device setup process as well as in the settings app (after I have set up my device without a PIN/password/pattern), trying to set a screen lock with PIN or password or pattern won't work. But setting 'None' or 'Swipe' works as expected. I have only one user on this phone.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Settings App
  2. Open 'Security & privacy'
  3. Open 'Device unlock'
  4. Open 'Screen lock'
  5. Choose 'Pattern' or 'PIN' or 'Password' (for this example I choose PIN, but same happens to any methods except 'None' and 'Swipe')
  6. Type in PIN and click 'Next' (length and 'Auto-confirm' does not make a difference, in this example I choose a 4 digit PIN)
  7. Re-type the same PIN and click 'Confirm' --> Nothing happens, issue state present

What else I have tried:

  1. Closing, killing and opening Settings app
  2. Navigating to 'Device unlock'
  3. Opening 'Screen lock' --> Settings app freezes, black screen opens and it crashes
  4. After rebooting the phone, 'Screen lock' opens again but leads to same issue as seen in steps 4 to 7

Same behavior can be seen in the device setup process (after my first installation of LineageOS)
