Audio and Video playback lag stuttering on and off

Background info

I was having similar issues with Android Auto. Since having tried a plethora of things there, it seemed to also start happening on my phone without being attached to Android Auto. Sometimes while using Android Auto while I knew the audio would lag, my phone would restart (but it would never ask for pins) and audio playback worked flawlessly again. I should also note that up until a few days ago, this (purely phone speaker issue) was never a problem (that said -- the Android Auto issues however, have lasted for the better part of the last month).

Expected behavior:

Audio and video should run smoothly as it always has.

Current Behavior:

Sound (and if accompanied by video -- video) will stop playing every 3 or so seconds and resume after a few more seconds, then repeatedly cut off again. Video might keep playing without sounds, or freeze as well.

Possible Solution:

Couldn't find any. Installing the latest firmware as suggested in some places, didn't do the trick.

Noteworthy, the audio and video are out of sync in the video, this wasn't actually what happened; the video and audio are in sync when this normally happens, during recording, when the audio stopped, so did video, it just wasn't recorded that way.
