Fingerprint reader stopped working after upgrade from 17.1 to 18.1

The fingerprint sensor on my Samsung S5 klte used to work in 17.1, as of April 18th, 2021, but stopped working after upgrading to 18.1 last weekend. There is no response whatsoever from it. Restart already tried, to no avail.

Is this in any way a known issue or limitation in the current 18.1 builds? I can try to dig up some logs to further investigate this issue, but would be happy to hear if there is anything else that I could try.
