Random freezing on random websites
Prerequisites
-
Can you reproduce the problem in a fresh firefox profile with only ClearURLs? -
Are you running the latest version of ClearURLs? -
Are you have changed settings under about:config
?
Description
Random freezing on random websites. Webpages simply stop loading/responding randomly and ClearURLs cause really high CPU usage when this happens. On Chromium Edge, it's easy to check the culprit causing high CPU usage by the browser task manager. Disabling ClearURLs fixes the page loading/freezing immediately and I can re-enable it after that and everything goes back to normal. On Firefox, it's not possible since Firefox uses only one process for every extensions. The extension process start using high CPU and only closing the browser fixes it so it's far more troublesome there.
Steps to Reproduce
It's so random that I can't really predict the behavior. Sometimes it doesn't happen for a whole day or two then suddenly it happens.
Expected behavior: No freezing
Actual behavior: Webpage freezing along with high CPU usage by ClearURLs.
System
Windows 10 2004, 64 bit Firefox 76.0.1 & Chromium Edge 83, ClearURLs 1.17.0. Installed extensions in both browsers: Buster: Captcha Solver for Humans, Cookie AutoDelete, Dark Reader, enhanced-h264ify, Enhancer for YouTube, uBlock Origin.
Log
Sorry I don't have any at the moment. No logs, no screenshots or anything but I experienced this multiple times and ClearURLs is definitely the issue one way or another. I've enabled logs now and will share updates here if I reproduce it again. I opened this issue to keep you inform and maybe someone else also faced this issue who can help providing logs and other required info.
