Wait for first note to start recording

Having to click the record button makes it almost impossible to have the recording start with the first note.

It would be better to wait until the first MIDI event in order to keep the recording tidy.

The recording button should communicate that the recording won't occur until something else happens. "Ready to record" label maybe. It should also be possible to override the behaviour by clicking the button again.
