format c: /q /u failed while /d /q /u succeeded

I have an interesting issue. Well, it's not really an issue since it works in the end but still, you may find it interesting. I'm unable to format my 511 MB system partition (on a CF card, filled with zeroes and partitioned with FreeDOS fdisk) with format c: /q /u but I can do that with format c: /d /q /u, which doesn't make sense at all. 😄 I'm able to reproduce it each time, so if you need some testing, just send me your binaries.
