tab clicks on wayland not recognized

Thank you so much for this amazing tool! I use it quite often on my op6 running pmos/sxmo (a slightly modified version without volume button support).

However, clicks (tapping on the screen) get only recognized when i launch TouchpadEmulator before the according gui app, e.g. krita, inkscape, firefox... when i launch it after the gui app is launched, taps/click do not work.

any idea how to fix this?
