MSI MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WiFi (MSI Mystic Light) bricked RGB?

I built OpenRGB from master yesterday and tried to control the RGB on my water blocks connected to JRAINBOW1 from within Linux on my MSI MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WiFi. The Mystic Light controller showed up without issue when running the program with sudo.
It worked with static colors at first, but when trying to set the "Double Meteor" effect, the first LED on my water blocks and the IO shield LED began flickering red and didn't respond to any further requests. After closing OpenRGB, there were a number of ioctl errors in the terminal.
Unfortunately, a reboot did not reset the RGB settings, and the Mystic Light USB controller seems to have disappeared. Disabling and re-enabling RGB control within the BIOS has not helped either. BIOS version is 7B93v16.

dmesg does not report any effort by the kernel to initialize a USB device with VID 1462 either, so any manual access is currently not possible.

I can't even control the Mystic Light from within Windows anymore, which leads me to believe that the controller somehow got damaged. Is it possible to recover it somehow or is the RGB permanently bricked?

Thanks
