OpenRGB 1.0 Roadmap

This is the main tracking issue for the OpenRGB 1.0 release. I'll note down things that I consider must-haves and nice-to-haves here before the 1.0 release.

As discussed on Discord, the 1.0 release is going to alter the release schedule and version numbering scheme of the OpenRGB project in the following ways:

  • Starting with version 1.0, the MAJOR version will be incremented whenever the plugin (RGBController) API changes, making it easier to know which plugins will work with which released versions.
  • The minor version may be used to release smaller in-between releases to add and fix device support without changing the core API or breaking plugin compatibility.
  • A new scheme will be developed to identify development/pipeline builds, but we have not decided what this will be yet.
  • Version 1.0 will release with the changes noted here, any other core/API breaking changes will be pushed to 2.0.

Must Haves (Changes that break API are kept in next branch until release)

Nice To Haves

Device Support

  • Fix HYTE CNVS
    • Windows support
    • Safe brightness to prevent shutdown
  • ROG Ally brightness (!2121 (merged))
