Client/Server not working on 3.05?

So I was playing around with the 3.05 update, really like how fluid this has all become in terms of actual response to music etc, however I'm really interested in this whole Client/Server setup as I may have a practical use for it. However I just can't get it to work, maybe I'm expecting it to do something it can't do? I just assumed that the server would broadcast it's settings/animations to the clients. Am I totally wrong or did I miss something?
