Opening a Previously-Deleted Linked File Results in Error

When you try to open a file again, after deleting the link from Obsidian, Obsidian throws an error: File "/.trash/FILENAME.md" not found.. The FILENAME above has the name of the markdown file you tried to open.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Obsidian Setting for "Deleted files" set to "Move to Obsidian trash (.trash folder)
  2. "Obsidian Everywhere" script installed following README
  3. Open any markdown file
  4. Delete the link file in Obsidian (to clean up the Temp folder, for example)
  5. Try opening the same markdown file again
  6. Error appears

You can mitigate this by

  • Deleting the file from the Obsidian .trash folder, OR
  • Never deleting the link files

Why is this important?

I imagine that I will want to clear those links from Obsidian at some point. If I don't also clear my Obsidian trash, I will be presented with these errors. I don't want to clear my Obsidian trash. I like using the Obsidian .trash option because then all deleted Obsidian files from macOS and iOS are in the same place, and I will likely never clear this folder.

Let me know if you have a solution for this. My guess is that it has to do with the # 1. If the file is inside any vault section.
