Rationale
This is the description about the Annoucement section you can find in the Content Design Document:
Announcements generated by the project, like release announcements. News to be consumed by community Members or supporters would be also a matter of this section/pages.
This is the first feature ready release and we will use the announcement as a excuse to reach out a wider audience, who knows nothing about BuildStream. In further releases we will target people who wants to try BuildStream for the very first time.
Content structure and description
The release announcement will have the following structure:
- Message: a single sentence that summarises the message.
- News: a paragraph containing the news, including a link to the download page and the feature page. In this release, since we are targeting people unaware of BuildStream, we will highligh the FAQ page.
- Who is for: this is important since we need to define out there our target audience. In the future, this paragraph won be needed.
- Improvements: a paragraph summarising what readers will find in the feature page.
Actions
-
Add link to the mail version of the release announcement. - Note: there was no coordination between the mail and the web announcement so they include different information. Although they target different audience, the mail announcement should be a "more technical" extension of the release announcement, not a completely different announcement.
-
Modify the impact of the CAS feature based on the new text created for the feature page, where @tacgomes introduced a pertinent suggestion. -
Fix the link to "Install and update"
