Which version of buildstream for new user?

From perspective of new user

• google buildstream, get buildstream gnome wiki page no sign of which version to use.
• click on first link, get buildstream gitlab page no sign of which version to use. may clone repo, get master
• click on link to documentation, no sign of which version to use
• click on link to Install, no sign of which version to use
• click on installing from source (recommended) and get led to install master, with dependencies

So at no point does the project say 'start with latest "stable" tag'. And FWIW the "stable" odd/even tag concept may be well understood in GNOME, but not by new users in general.
